Dorian LPG, the owner and operator of Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGCs), stated that in the third quarter of 2019, orders for VLGCs accounted for approximately 13% of the global total number of ships. By the end of 2021, it is expected that 36 ultra large gas transport ships will join the global fleet, equivalent to a carrying capacity of approximately 3 million cubic meters. At present, the average age of the global fleet is 9.4 years.
